Welcome

Global Tides is an online academic journal publishing Pepperdine undergraduate student papers from a broad array of divisions and majors. In 2010, Global Tides expanded from its roots as a journal of international studies to become an interdisciplinary undergraduate research journal. Phenomenal faculty support allowed the creation of four distinct Global Tides divisions – humanities, religion, social science, and international studies.

This publication is intended to showcase the finest writings of Pepperdine undergraduates and further the academic standing of the university by encouraging students to produce work of the highest quality. This is a student-led, peer-reviewed journal in which papers are subjected to a rigorous review process to determine their suitability for publication.

Global Tides publishes once annually, featuring three to five scholarly essays from each division, a book review section, a photography competition, and the "Journeyer's Journal," which consists of short narratives describing international experiences. Submissions from students of all majors are welcomed, though all research paper submissions must fall within the scope of humanities, religion, social science, or international studies.

Students interested in participating or contributing to the journal are encouraged to read the Information for Authors and contact the editorial board at global.tides@pepperdine.edu.
